The Bartels Group is searching for an experienced and skilled Assistant Controller to assist with the preparation of financial statements, budget reports, financial analysis, and internal control systems.

Status: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: Standard Office Hours (Monday – Friday)
Working Conditions: Office environment, long periods of time sitting behind a desk
Location: In-Person: Ancaster, ON.


Degree in accounting, finance, or related field of study
Progressive experience as an accountant, assistant controller, or in a similar role.
Professional certification as CPA is preferred.
Experienced with financial system conversions
Excellent understanding of GAAP and relevant financial accounting regulations.


  • Are well-organized, self-initiating and have demonstrated a desire to understand financial results.
  • Have exceptional accounting skills and knowledge of relevant industry regulations.
  • Interpret financial data to assist in operational decision-making.
  • Thrive on the accurate and successful completion of financial modeling, account reconciliations, fixed asset management, accounts receivable/accounts payable analysis, and other tasks related to financial projects.


  • Preparing and consolidating financial statements and reports.
    Assisting with the development and evaluation of budgets and reports.
    Supporting the formulation and implementation of control systems within the organization.
    Reviewing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll, identifying discrepancies, and reconciling accounts.
    Supporting the accounting department with all aspects of the general ledger.
    Ensuring strict compliance with company and regulatory standards.
    Preparing and managing accounts using various software programs.
    Preparing and assisting with audits.
